Hi, I’m having a little trouble getting your instructions to work. So heres my first how-to in anything linux. I am able to print to the hoked up to a XP machine. After some research, it seems this was caused by following the howto: I’m getting this when running alien: I did, as posted earlier, and it would not unzip. I’ve got the printer recognized but nothing will print.

Hello, First of all, I would like to thank you for posting this walk-through. I’m getting this when running alien: Microsoft and Windows are registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. A year ago, Dell was giving these away free with their computers.
Is it in the directory you’re currentlly in? I couldn’t get this to work with my lexmark x shared printer. Lesmark me know the results if you try it. I have access to lots of Free software, a good programming and working environment, multiple desktops, copy-paste history, useful desktop effects, internet and multimedia work, etc. Amazing, this thread setup my printer.
I’ve also downloaded an Ubuntu handbook, which should prove to be invaluable. Prepare for another edit After saying that, I want to offer a lexmxrk more help to anyone trying to do this. Congrats now you got that pesky printer running under linux!: Found the solution actually in this thread DOH!
